Clothe Kids NowTM addresses the clothing needs of needy, underprivileged children in surrounding communities and is now expanding across the United States.

Clothe Kids NowTM addresses the clothing needs of needy, underprivileged children in surrounding communities and is now expanding across the United States. It is accomplished through our partnership with Kid’s Matter International, Kohl’s Department Stores and local school districts that help identify those children who are in need of assistance. Funds are provided through individuals, businesses, and other local organizations.

Putting children in new shoes and clothes allows them to walk with confidence knowing that there are people that care. And the experience goes beyond the shopping day. Every time they throw that coat over their shoulders, every time they tie those new laces, these children will be gearing up for another day in their life. When put in comparison to not having, proper clothing can be a catalyst to change. School officials have reported how this shopping event boosts the self esteem of the children who are the recipients.

When Dr. Lawrence Kennedy, senior pastor of North Church in Carrollton, Texas, was a child, a group of men would deliver warm clothes and coats to him and his family. Their kindness made such an impact upon him that he stated that when he could get to a place of influence in life he would help and bless others the way these men blessed him. In 1989, he started the clothing program which was called Clothe-a-Child, with 25 kids.

Right away he could see the difference it made in those children’s lives and in the people who helped him that first year. Clothe Kids Now™ addresses the clothing needs of financially underprivileged children. Each child who qualifies is allowed to choose up to $100 of clothing from Kohl’s during a designated shopping event. With the help of Kids Matter International, thousands of volunteers, Clothe Kids Now™ has provided new clothes for over close to 10,000 children.

Today, we are accomplishing the mission with a new name, Clothe Kids Now™ which is one of the greatest community outreaches and charitable programs in our city. This mission is accomplished through our partnership with Kids Matter International, Kohl’s Department Stores, and local schools in various districts that help us identify those children who are in need of assistance. Each year we see the need rise. With the same history and mission of providing new clothing to children in need; Clothe Kids Now™ will continue to help children locally and expand beyond the Dallas/Ft. Worth to include other areas of the United States.
